Hack your Core Duo MacBook

The enterprising (and brave) people over at Hardmac have discovered a method of enabling 802.11n support on Core Duo-based MacBooks and MacBook Pros. The original series MB and MBP shipped with an Airport Extreme card supporting 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, but not the new 802.11n draft spec employed by the new Airport Extreme base station, providing increased range and bandwidth.

With the introduction of AirPort Extreme 802.11n base stations, Apple announced that the majority of its current machines are compatible with the draft of that standard via a drive update. On the other hand, the MacBook and MacBook Pro Core Duo aren’t likely to get compatible Airport modules. For Apple, these machines are condemned to always remain at 802.11g.

If you are an experienced professional, chances are you have a good set of tools and a work process that you repeat on a daily basis to handle your work. That’s good; it’s how you become more productive, and become an expert. But with repetitive processes come repetitive mechanical work. Whether it’s opening a file in Photoshop to change the format or adding an iCal to-do item based on an email you received, these little tasks can be streamlined. That’s the purpose of AppleScripts.

I Give 30 minutes to Hack Out Mac Os X

On February 22, a Sweden-based Mac enthusiast set his Mac Mini as a server and invited hackers to break through the computer’s security and gain root control, which would allow the attacker to take charge of the computer and delete files and folders or install applications.

Participants were given local client access to the target computer and invited to try their luck.
